A home daycare is like a family, and my journey to becoming a daycare provider began with family too. While helping at my aunt’s child care center in the Dominican Republic I quickly discovered that taking care of little ones is my passion, a passion that has led me to my own home daycare program! I treat every child like my own, my daycare is very welcoming, and I try to build connections between families, starting with a celebration where they are able to meet and get to know each other. These kinds of connections are so important and what I do is so rewarding, especially when families tell me about the positive impact I have made in their lives.
Children need lots of activities to choose from! My home daycare is child-led, and our schedule is flexible – we like to go with the flow and there is a lot of play-based learning. We sing, dance, and do arts and crafts. A favorite activity for some of the older kids is painting, and the younger ones really light up when we play music and sing. Circle time is a wonderful part of our day, especially the connections we make and the kid’s responses to questions – they all have such interesting things to share about themselves! In my program we enjoy celebrating the changing seasons with activities and projects, and I love to document these special times and share them with families so they can see all the fun we have and talk with their children about their day.
Fresh air is so good for children and should be built into the day. My backyard is a great place to play, with lots of games and activities to choose from – basketball, soccer, gross motor activities, water play in the summer, snowmen building in the winter – we have fun outside all year long! We also speak mostly Spanish in my home, and the children soak up the new words so quickly that by the time they leave my program most of them know Spanish and can use it in their own lives! I think this is wonderful because it is something that will be helpful to them in the future. I love celebrations, and so do the kids – and we can find an excuse to have a party – to welcome new families, for a special birthday, or to say goodbye to a child who is ‘graduating’ from my program.

“A child must know that they are a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn’t been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like them.”
~ Pablo CasalsHere’s the inside scoop from other parents that have worked with Ms. Jacqueline.
My twin boys attended Ms. Jacquie's daycare until they were ready for preschool. As a new mom, I was hesitant and worried about my babies being without me. As soon as I walked into the space and noticed Jackie's warmth, dedication, and love for my children, I knew they were in great hands. Some of their best early childhood memories are from their experiences there. My children learned how to be in a classroom environment, socialization skills, following directions, were potty trained, etc. I will forever be grateful for all Ms. Jackie did for my children. My boys are now 10-yrs old and we still keep in touch. Wonderful lady. Highly recommend her.
I highly recommend Ms. Jacqueline's NeighborSchool for the quality of the teaching. It was a wonderful experience! It gave me the peace I needed when leaving my child and knowing that he was well-cared. I consider myself lucky to have found it. I recommend this place to anyone.
Daycare rates depend on how old your child will be and what your schedule looks like. 5 days / week might get a slight discount, and infant rates are usually more than toddlers’. Finding a spot also depends on age and schedule because each daycare has a limited number of openings for each age range.

There are 2 home daycares in South Boston. Most care for 6 to 10 children and take both infants and toddlers. All home daycares are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care, just like preschool centers.

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.
Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.
Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.
Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.
Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.
We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
