Q&A with Ms. Ilham

Tell us about your experience working with young children?

I have 20 + years of experience taking care of young children. For me, one of the best parts of working with children is watching them explore and discover. I feel so fortunate to experience that every day and to share my skills and experience with families through my home-based child care program, where I focus on learning through play. I aim to create an environment that is nurturing and happy for the children I care about so much. So many parts of this job are fun, but I especially love to watch them express themselves. I can't imagine spending my days any other way. I’m also proud to do this important work. That’s especially true when I think about all the children I've taught and watched grow.

What are the key areas of focus at your daycare?

We follow a daily routine that can vary according to child age and interest. Usually, days begin with circle time and include curriculum-based lessons and activities, free play, motor skills development, music and movement, and arts and crafts. One of my favorite times of the day is group activities and games. I never get bored because I get to guide them as they make discoveries and develop. I use my knowledge and prior experiences to adjust my program and meet individual children needs. I put a lot of emphasis on allowing children to express themselves, and I use the small group size to everyone’s advantage. I want the children in my program to look forward to coming here. I partner with parents and family members to help care for the children in my program. I want parents to know that I treat all the children as if they were my own.

Can you tell us a bit about your home environment?

I want the children to feel at home here, so I have arranged the lower level of my Revere home to be colorful and fun. I have designated spaces for circle time, sensory activities, arts and crafts, reading, and tummy time. We also spend lots of time outside playing in my fenced-in yard and walking together through the quiet neighborhood.

Ms. Ilham was immediately warm and welcoming inviting us in to see this small, family daycare ( feels like home ) . My kids feel like going to auntie or grandma’s house ( is hey are always happy to go to Mrs Ilham’s daycare ) ...Mrs Ilham is always open for conversation, empathetic, real, transparent and a parent herself ( her kids are : 29 years old ,17 years old and 13 years old ) If we have ever had a concern about our girls (potty training, bottle weaning, tantrums etc)... she is always there to assist, work with us and ultimately foster love, patience, knowledge and kindness in our girls. She have a nice good size front yard (playground) that the kids love playing on when it is nice outside .Along with the day-to-day activities, they are always doing special things around the holidays for the kids/parents (christmas , easter , valentines etc). I honestly could go on and on about all the ways That Ms ilham Preschool is a phenominal daycare... but most importantly, I dont have to question what type of care my girls are getting. I know in my absence they are being loved, nurtured, comforted and allowed to grow, learn and explore in a warm and caring environment.... everyday. I will not take them anywhere else and will be very sad when they have to leave.

I knew the moment I walked into Mrs Ilham Family daycare that this is where I was going to send my daughter who was 5 months old at the time. I checked into several other places and this is the one that stood out to me. It was obvious right away that Ilham loves what she does and cares about the children. This was a very stressful transition for me, and Ilham helped me through it. Ilham is an amazing teacher. My daughter has learned so much from being there and I have no doubt that is because of Ilham .Ilhams assistant's are always qualified and wonderful individuals as well. My second daughter is also now going to Mrs Ilham daycare . Both girls love it there and I have never felt like they should be anywhere else. Ilham provides you with a great sense of security. You know your children are in good hands when they are with her.

My wife and I wanted to thank you so much for the hard work and pouring into our son Vincent . While his transition to a new school and greater responsibility, he by far was more than prepared to arise to the new tasks presented to him. His current teacher is thrilled and overwhelmed at how bright, attentive, in-depth and advanced he is in his social skills, conception of work and detail. We wanted to let you know your teaching and love was great . We love you Miss Ilham

Rates & Openings

Daycare rates depend on how old your child will be and what your schedule looks like. 5 days / week might get a slight discount, and infant rates are usually more than toddlers’. Finding a spot also depends on age and schedule because each daycare has a limited number of openings for each age range.

FAQs

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be - especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text or email - we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
