When I was growing up, I was always taking care of the younger kids in the family. Later, I went to boarding school, where I also helped care for the kids in younger gradesāso I was really drawn to children right away! After I graduated from school, I taught second grade and worked as a social worker with low-income, at risk youth in India. Then, I had two children of my own, and I wanted to make sure they received a high-quality education. I also wanted to keep working in child care, so I decided I could achieve both goals by opening my own program in my home. It was a great decisionāI love teaching the children in my program and supporting local families. I feel very lucky that I was able to discover my passion at such a young age and dedicate my entire life to working with young children! Being around kids motivates me to work harder every day. No other job can give you that.
I am an educator and mother of three children. I started working with children after I started my own family. I worked as an assistant in a daycare for three years. Iāve also looked to learn as much as I can about child development and what makes family child care programs work best for the children. Iāve taken many different courses and workshops such as, Development of Child Learning, Food for Children, and others. Iām interested not only in spending more time with my children and being home with them, but also helping my community and other children grow. I love a childās ability to learn, along with what we can learn from them. They teach me new things just as much as I teach them. I also love the innocence and sweetness that each of them has.
When it comes to taking care of children, know-how and experience is important! Not only am I a mother and a grandmother, but Iāve been in the field of education for over thirty years. In those three decades I have met so many special children and families and have worked with many different types of learners. My home daycare is a wonderful environment for learning ā with different themes and activities and special times together throughout the year. I really work with parents and caregivers as partners, and my goal is to make sure every child learns a bit, moves a bit, and has a bit of fun during their day. I know I sure do!

Most first-time parents donāt know exactly what theyāre looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. Weāll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. Weāll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when youāve found the right match.
Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. Thatās why we picked the name NeighborSchools - weāre all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your childās age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.
