R

Ms. Resharia

Infant Care

Every child has a special light inside them, and a warm and happy environment can make that light shine even brighter! My home daycare is welcoming, comfortable and safe. This makes it a great place to learn! The children I care for become so precious to me, and the relationships that form with their families are just as precious. I feel that happiness is all about learning experiences and growth, and I love being a part of those things in a child’s life. Each little one that walks through my front door adds something special and important to the Lil I Am Miracles family.

Ms. Natalia

Play-Based Learning

I have 4 years of experience taking care of young children. For me, one of the best parts of working with children is that they start to show you their little personalities. I feel so fortunate to experience that every day and to share my skills and experience with families through my home-based child care program, where I focus on children's wellbeing. I aim to create an environment that is nurturing and welcoming for the children I care about so much. So many parts of this job are fun, but I especially love to watch them express themselves. I can't imagine spending my days any other way. I’m also proud to do this important work. That’s especially true when I think about all the children I've helped grow and learn.

G

Ms. Gersey

Play-Based Learning

I worked as a teacher after university, and then I spent several years working in the healthcare industry. Now I have returned to what I was trained to do and what I love so much: working with children. Before I opened my program, I volunteered in a friend’s program and took some courses to refresh my knowledge and my certifications. Now that my program is open, I am reminded of how much fun I have with children. And they have fun with me, too! I have one parent who is always telling me that her daughter asks to come to my house on the weekends.

A

Ms. Alexandra

Play-Based Learning

I have 13 years of experience taking care of young children. Previously, I worked in daycare centers as a teacher, but left that to run my own program which I have been doing for many years. For me, one of the best parts of working with children is that they all need love and care. I feel so fortunate to experience that every day and to share my skills and experience with families through my home-based child care program, where I focus on giving children personalized attention. I aim to create an environment that is friendly and welcoming for the children I care about so much. So many parts of this job are fun, but I especially love to watch them express themselves. I can't imagine spending my days any other way. I’m also proud to do this important work. That’s especially true when I think about all the children I've helped grow and learn.

Ms. Sherald

Play-Based Learning

I became a Mom over 20 years ago, and I have been caring for children ever since. Opening my own child care program in my home gave me the opportunity to create the engaging, welcoming environment that I think is so important. I especially love to read books to them, but the truth is that so many parts of the day and the week bring me a lot of joy. Through it all, I focus on learning through play. One of the best parts of working with children is watching them learn and grow. The work is incredibly rewarding, especially when I think about all the children I've helped grow and learn. It's such a gift to guide the children in my program as they grow.

I

Ms. Izzy

Play-Based Learning

Teaching chose me. I started working with kids a little over 7 years ago. Before that, I was going to school for human services and didn’t realize I would be a preschool teacher. Then, I was helping my sister as an assistant at the preschool where she worked, and before I knew it, I went from floating teacher, to assistant teacher, to award-winning lead teacher in a preschool. I kept running with it. I have worked at a series of daycares – home daycares, private daycares, corporate daycares. I understand different models, so I can pull the best elements from each one. For example, I have a good understanding of protocols and procedures from big places, and I deeply value the personal connections that are possible at small personal places. Most recently, I found my teaching home at Horizons for Homeless Children. There, I’m not just a teacher; I’m a mentor and a caretaker. Now, as I prepare to open my own program, Prime Childcare Services, I think about leading a classroom in which I show kids that they can be resilient and that they can enter the world loving and nurturing their friends.

Infant Care

I have 10 years of experience taking care of young children. Previously, I worked in my home as a nanny, and most recently I have been taking care of my own children. For me, one of the best parts of working with children is that they provide so much joy. I feel so fortunate to experience that every day and to share my skills and experience with families through my home-based child care program, where I focus on building independence. I aim to create an environment that is welcoming and friendly for the children I care about so much. So many parts of this job are fun, but I especially love to see them start to walk and talk. I can't imagine spending my days any other way. I’m also proud to do this important work.

N

Ms. Neissa

Play-Based Learning

Since a young age, I have always had a connection with children and knew that I wanted to have a career working with them. Growing up, and having to leave my home county life threw an array of curve balls my way. A few odd jobs here and there I was hired at a Teacher's assistant at a daycare in 2018, and 9 months later I receive my teacher's certificate. After a year and some months working there my dream of opening my own daycare called out to me and I have been on this journey ever since.

Ms. Tanya

Infant Care

My favorite thing about caring for children is witnessing their curiosity and joy. That has been a highlight for me throughout my 6 years of experience. I have worked as an early childhood educator in early childhood education programs, and most recently I have been teaching pre-K. People have said that I create an environment that is engaging and happy. I focus on allowing children to express themselves, and I especially love to watch them express themselves. Ms. Yirsi

Infant Care

Working with children means that every day is different! Kids at this age are so curious and get so excited about even the little things, and it’s so much fun to be part of that. There is always something new to discover and talk about. I realized how much I love helping children learn when I had my own children, and while working at a Montessori daycare. Having my own program has allowed me to work with so many unique and special children, and I have really enjoyed creating an environment where there are plenty of opportunities for growth for every type of child.

M

Ms. Mackendia

Montessori Approach

Children are so eager to explore their expanding world. To them, every day brings something new. With good-hearted guidance, they come to every new person and experience with an open mind. At this program, we do not discriminate against anyone, no matter their race, religion, political beliefs, marital status, sexual orientation, or disability. In my experience, children at this age are really able to understand this. They have an abundance of generosity and acceptance to share that gives me hope about humanity.

H

Ms. Harlet

Outdoor Education

It’s so rewarding to see children come out of their shell. For example, there was this one very shy boy who came to my daycare. He would barely say a word to anyone. But through encouragement and patience (and a sprinkling of fun vocal activities like singing), over the course of a few months, he got comfortable enough to actively participate in conversations. Now he’s a confident kid, and he talks more than anyone!

Let’s find a really good daycare for you

Get your own recommendations based on your preferences, daily routine, and what matters most to you.

FAQs

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be - especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text, email, or - we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
