When smaller is better, home daycare is the best. Find great options for infants & toddlers near you.
It has always been an absolute dream of mine to have my home daycare. I’ve raised my three children and have an associate, bachelor and master’s degrees in early childhood education. I did pre-practicum in preschool and kindergarten in the public schools. I started working with children as a teacher in a daycare center 4 years ago. I have so much to provide to little ones. I especially love to read books, sing and to tell stories to the children, but the truth is that so many parts of the day bring a lot of joy and fun. Through it all, I focus on allowing children to express themselves. One of the best parts of working with children is that they are all different. The work is incredibly rewarding, especially when I think about all the children I’ve helped grow and learn. It’s such a gift to guide the children in my program as they grow. I am very proud to be a part of my community. This gives me the opportunity to create the welcoming. Nurturing environment that I think is so important. I believe children learn best when they have a good relationship with their teachers. This creates a positive interaction with secure attachment that make the children feel good about themselves in their surroundings. The children learn how to play cooperatively, take turns, improve their language as they communicate with one another. Having 2-5 years old in my program requires me to know zone of proximal development of each child in order to I use modeling, and scaffolding strategies with visual aids to support an individual child’s learning. This experience will give them unforgettable feelings of being loved that they will carry into their adulthood, and help them to build a positive relationship with others. As a teacher, of young children, I must meet goals and expectations for each child’s learning.
Children have so much potential inside them! Bringing out that potential and allowing it to grow is at the heart of why I do what I do. I started working with children in high school and realized childcare was so much more than just a job for me. How children grow and learn really interests me – and when I discovered Montessori I became even more inspired! My home daycare program follows many Montessori methods – we encourage independence and do a lot of hands-on activities and learning. It is simply amazing what children are capable of when given time, space, and the right materials and support. There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing that ‘I did it!’ expression on a child’s face after an accomplishment. Every single one of these moments is important and special, and I feel thankful that I get to be a part of them.
My mother was a teacher in DR for her whole life and now owns her own school. I grew up just loving working with little children - teaching them and guiding them. It's no wonder I had to open my own home daycare, it's in my genes! My favorite thing about caring for children is watching them learn and grow. That has been a highlight for me throughout my experience. I have worked as a nanny in private homes, and most recently I have been taking care of my own children. People have said that I create an environment that is welcoming and comfortable. I focus on helping children work through challenges, and I especially love to take children outside to explore and play. I’m proud when I think about all the children I've taught. That's what makes this work so special.
Young children, in some ways, are not much different than adults. It’s important to treat them like the individuals they are already becoming. They arrive at daycare with their own personalities, interests, and strengths, and it’s such a joy to help them explore those things further. Each kid also sometimes faces their own challenges, and it’s important that they have someone they trust to guide them through. In this life, there’s no telling what might get thrown your way, but it’s at this age of a child’s life that they develop the skills necessary to navigate the hard times. Children can be so resilient and hopeful, and that good attitude is wonderful to be around.

Get your own recommendations based on your preferences, daily routine, and what matters most to you.
Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.
Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.
Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.
Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.
Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.
We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
Take the survey and get 3 daycare recommendations that fit your preferences. Takes 5 minutes and it’s 100% free for parents.
