When smaller is better, home daycare is the best. Find great options for infants & toddlers near you.
I became a mother 13 years ago and I went to school to study early childhood to be a preschool teacher. My favorite thing about caring for children is watching them explore and discover. That has been a highlight for me throughout my7 years of experience. I have worked as an early childhood educator in daycare centers, and most recently I have been working in my own daycare program. People have said that I create an environment that is comfortable and happy. I focus on building independence, and I especially love to watch them express themselves. I’m proud when I think about all the children I've helped grow and learn. That's what makes this work so special.
My daughter Adela and I have always dreamed of having our own family child care program. Opening my own child care program in my home gave me the opportunity to create the happy, welcoming environment that I think is so important. I especially love to see them start to walk and talk, but the truth is that so many parts of the day and the week bring me a lot of joy. Through it all, I focus on learning through play. One of the best parts of working with children is watching them explore and discover. The work is incredibly rewarding, especially when I think about how I've prepared children for pre-K. It's such a gift to guide the children in my program as they grow.
I love looking at the world through the eyes of children and being part of their growth and learning every day! I’ve been working with little ones since I was a teenager and have also raised three children of my own. Opening my own home daycare has allowed me to bring twelve years of professional daycare experience to families in my own community – this is so special to me! The very best thing about what I do is being part of so much growth – there is nothing like that smile on a child’s face when they have accomplished a task or the excitement that bubbles up when they are learning something new. This sense of discovery is truly priceless and is what makes me love what I do so much.
Kids have this magical ability to make you see the world differently. They approach each day with joy, enthusiasm, and a sense of adventure—and they share that good energy with those lucky enough to be around them! The best part of my day is welcoming all the children in the morning and seeing their faces light up when they hear what we’re going to do next. Special trips to the library, the zoo, and the museum are a big highlight because they’re so eager to learn new things.

Young children make the world feel new and exciting. A good caregiver is eager to see things from new perspectives, and kids have such a unique point of view! As an experienced educator and mother of four, I can honestly say that no two children are alike. It’s a joy to see what they’re passionate about and what subjects or activities make them glow with wonder. After working in public schools for a while and raising my own kids, I decided to open a daycare so I could combine my love of caregiving with my passion for early childhood education. There is no better way to spend the day than by introducing a great group of kids to something that might be really meaningful to them.
Young children are so full of potential. They can do anything they set their minds to, and that journey starts with daycare. Every kid deserves a safe space, somewhere they feel comfortable being themselves and asking questions. They also deserve a mentor or guardian who is going to have their best interests at heart. I’ve always had a knack for looking after kids. I was always the go-to person in the family to babysit. When my niece (age 12) needed a place to live, I was happy to open my home to her. Starting a daycare is my way of offering the children in my community this quality care and helping them with these important first steps.
Every child is unique and brings something special to our daycare community. I love being around kids and celebrating them for who they are! I was a youth camp counselor for fourteen years, a lifeguard and swim teacher, and then went to college to study education. Now I’m lucky enough to have a home with plenty of space for my own home daycare program! Being able to teach, use my creativity, and serve my community by taking great care of children is a blessing.
All children deserve our attention, our dedication, and a quality education. Once they have access to these things, there’s truly no limit to what they can achieve! Growing up in a family with 16 brothers and sisters meant I was always around children and eager to help guide those younger than me. It’s a responsibility I took and continue to take very seriously. In fact, after having my own children, I also became a foster parent so I could give children in need a chance. In the 30 years that I’ve been a foster parent, I have met some great kids who have grown up to become even more remarkable adults. For me, caregiving is more than a passion. It’s a lifelong commitment to the children. Starting my own daycare program meant that I was able to create a safe space for kids to come and be themselves without judgment or reservation. Watching a child come out of their shell a little is the most rewarding thing! At my program, I have the joy of helping children thrive
Although every child’s development is different, they all have one thing in common: they never ceased to amaze us with their excitement and their passion. They have a natural inclination towards discovery that makes learning such a joy. It’s incredibly rewarding knowing that you’ve helped a child find a book they love, or introduced them to a kind of art that speaks to them, or taught them a skill that’s going to help them down the line. Together, we’re building towards their future success.

Children have so much ahead of them! Every day brings discovery. At this age, they’re learning so much about the world and also about themselves. There’s nothing quite like introducing a kid to a story or a song that they really, genuinely love. It could mean you have a writer or a musician on your hands! With a little patience and guidance, there’s no telling what can happen, and that surprise is half the fun of working with children. Caregiving comes really naturally to me, personally. I’ve always been a nurturing person. I started working with the elderly, but after having four kids of my own (ages 10, 7, 2, and 7 months!), I realized how energizing it is to spend time nourishing the next generation.
Working with little ones brings so many rewards. Caring for people is something I have been doing for a long time, as a nurse and a mother - and I love it! Even though I loved being a nurse, the schedule just was not working well for me or my family, and I knew I needed more balance in my life. Starting down a new path has been exciting - and beginning as an assistant in a daycare and working my way up to having my own program has been an amazing journey. Now that I have my own program, I am more passionate than ever about caring for kids!

Get your own recommendations based on your preferences, daily routine, and what matters most to you.
Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.
Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.
Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.
Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.
Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.
We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
Take the survey and get 3 daycare recommendations that fit your preferences. Takes 5 minutes and it’s 100% free for parents.
