Comforting a sick child at a doctor’s office may seem like a daunting task, but it’s all in a day’s work for Ms. Jocie. In fact, the Taunton mother of two, who has worked as a medical assistant for thirteen years—with four years focused specifically in pediatrics—says it’s one of her favorite parts of the job. Now, Ms. Jocie is taking those experiences in professional and personal caregiving and opening a daycare in Taunton, MA this fall.
“I’m not opening a doctor’s office,” Ms. Jocie laughs, “but my medical experience informs a lot of my child care philosophy, and I am very familiar with the challenges faced by young children. I want the children in my daycare—and their parents—to know they are safe and nurtured.”
Little Heavenly Moments Daycare will offer children a balance of learning and play, with lots of opportunities for exploring and growing. “Education is so important to me, so learning will be a part of everything we do,” Ms. Jocie says. “We’re going to have a reading area, an arts and crafts center, and space for circle time and show and tell. And we’ll spend lots of the day playing outdoors,” she explains, referring to the large backyard behind her new colonial-style home.
As a NeighborSchools Provider, Ms. Jocie has a team of child care and FCC experts helping her secure her license (Family Child Care Providers are licensed through Massachusetts’s Department of Early Education and Care), design her program, market her services, and manage her business systems. That team will continue to support Little Heavenly Moments Daycare as Ms. Jocie settles into her new role and welcomes families to daycare located in Taunton. “I can’t even explain what a relief it has been to work with NeighborSchools,” Ms. Jocie says. “They’ve taken care of all the logistics of setting up my business and supporting me each step of the way. It’s so amazing to know I have a team in my corner.”
