You know those daily covid screeners we’re doing every morning? Well, some FCC Providers have said they don’t love dealing with more paperwork and sanitizing a stack of pens so they’re ready for drop-off the next day…
Instead, what if all it took was just a couple taps on your phone—and when you’re done, the answers get sent straight to your email?
Sound good? Well, you’re in luck, because here’s a totally free Daily Covid Screener for FCCs.
We built this for the NeighborSchools Community, but we’re sharing it with everyone. We’re here to help, and this is really important right now.
So give it a shot. Providers who have switched to it say it’s much faster and easier than doing it on paper every morning.
How to use the Daily Covid Screener
If you want to know how the Screener works before you start using it, here are the 6 easy steps:
1. Load the Screener on your smartphone or tablet
When you sign-up for our Daily Covid Screener, we’ll send you a link to access it. You’ll want to bookmark this ASAP or save it somewhere on your smartphone or tablet.
When you’re ready to check a child into your program, pull up the link, and hit “Start.”
2. Answer the questions
First, you’ll need to enter your email and the name of the child or staff member you’re screening.
Next up, you’ll see a list of 11 symptoms (cough, sore throat, flushed cheeks). Check them off one-by-one.
3. Get the parent’s “signature”
The good news here is the parent’s typed out name counts as a signature. But how you do this is up to you. You can hand your device over to the parent to type out their name—just make sure to wipe down your phone afterward! Or you can type in their name for them to make the screening touchless.
4. Decide if the child can come into the program
You’re already a pro at this, but it’s worth repeating that if a child has any symptoms listed in step 2, they should not be allowed to enter your program. Your main priority is to keep your FCC safe and healthy.
And someone is sick, and you’re concerned about when they’ll be able to re-enter your program—we have expert advice for you here.
5. Sign-off on the screener
If you have all the answers completed, the parent’s signature, and you’ve decided whether or not to clear the child to enter your program—you just need to type your name to verify everything. Then hit submit and boom—you’re done!
6. Get a copy sent to your inbox for record-keeping
Once you hit “submit,” a copy of all the answers will be sent right to your email. This is great because you’ll have easy access to each screener you complete. You’ll need this if the EEC asks for records or proof that you’re completing this daily requirement.
Tip: To keep responses organized, we recommend moving them into a designated folder titled something like “Daily Covid Screens” in your inbox, so you can grab them quickly if needed.
And that’s it! Pretty painless, right?
