I have 4 years of experience taking care of young children. For me, one of the best parts of working with children is that they all need love and care. I feel so fortunate to experience that every day and to share my skills and experience with families through my home-based child care program, where I focus on learning through play. I aim to create an environment that is happy and friendly for the children I care about so much. So many parts of this job are fun, but I especially love to sing and dance with them. I can't imagine spending my days any other way. I’m also proud to do this important work. That’s especially true when I think about all the children and families I've impacted over the years.

We are Wei and JianJun. My wife, JianJun, and I began our Family Child Care program in August of 2019 and have loved it more and more every day. My wife previously worked at a large child care center for a year and a half with more than 100 children enrolled. While there, she found it difficult to provide as high quality of care as she’d like with such high enrollment. We decided to bring her high level of care to children in a smaller setting, thus starting our own family child care program. We have both worked in the academic world for most of our lives and raised a daughter who is now in her early 20’s. JianJun has the Child Development Associate Credential and we are licensed through the EEC. We’ve taken courses in Child Development and continue to study different theories of how best to educate the children. We feel that we are learning just as much as the children are!

Before I became a child care provider and educator almost twenty years ago, I was an area sales manager for a large department store. Ready for a change and looking for a more meaningful career, I decided to pursue a career as an educator in the child care field. I had always enjoyed being around children, and I wanted a child of my own as well. So, in November of 2002, I was first issued my Family Child Care Provider License, and I opened my own family child care business. During those early years, I also worked part-time as an on-call substitute assistant teacher in various public, private, group, and family child care programs and preschools. I learned so much from those years of experience, and I realized how much I enjoy teaching children. I found that what I liked best about my job and working with children was seeing how much children, even at a very young age, thirst for knowledge, are eager to learn, and truly enjoy learning.

Watching them learn and grow. That has been a highlight for me throughout my 13 years of experience. I have worked as an early childhood educator in daycare centers, and most recently I have been working in a daycare program. People have said that I create an environment that is nurturing and welcoming. I focus on learning through play, and I especially love to sing and dance with them. I’m proud when I think about all the children I've helped grow and learn. That's what makes this work so special.
