Q&A with Ms. Krystina

Tell us about your experience working with young children?

I am an experienced early childhood educator who started working with children when I was in high school. I took a child development course and worked as a volunteer at the preschool that was associated with the program. I fell in love with the age group and continued on to get a degree in Early Childhood Education. I’ve now worked in a few different settings, including a Special Education setting and at the Franklin Early Childhood Center in Melrose, MA Center for 6 years. I treat all children in my care like they’re my own, and I love them like family. That’s why it’s so important to me to focus on the whole child.

What are the key areas of focus at your daycare?

The Little Blue Nursery School, my new program, is a traditional pre-school nursery school with a focus on the whole child. I focus on both academic preparation for kindergarten and social l and emotional well-being. My program is play-based and incorporates cooking, mindfulness, and yoga, all of which help reduce anxiety in young children. We follow a curriculum that is divided into thematic units guided by Massachusetts Department of Early Education Frameworks, the Massachusetts Common Core Standards, student interests, and time of year. Days include cooperative learning activities, free-choice centers, outdoor exploration, arts and crafts, circle time, music and movement, mindfulness activities, and whole-group learning projects. For more information on regards to our curriculum , follow this link www.tinyurl.com/bluenurseryschool

Can you tell us a bit about your home environment?

The Little Blue Nursery School takes place in my finished attic, which is a large open space just under 300 square feet. We also use another play area on the second floor of my home and my large backyard, which is fenced in and includes a grassy area, a paved area for bikes and scooters, and a garden for planting. Kids also can use the sandbox and can play endless games in the open space, using cars and sports equipment or just their imaginations. A short walk on all side streets gives us access to local programming for kids, so we also are able to take regular small adventures from the house.

Reviews & References

Here’s the inside scoop from other parents that have worked with Ms. Krystina.

Our son was in Krystina's classroom when he was in preschool. She was fantastic! She is extremely outgoing, articulate, and fun. When you meet her, you immediately get the sense that she loves what she is doing, that she is excited by what she is doing. Her enthusiasm is completely genuine - her passion is palpable, and consistent. Since this was our first experience of sending our son to school, we had our own anxieties, but she made us confident that he was in great hands. She made sure to communicate with us her observations so we could make sure our son was supported in his individual needs. When we heard she was opening her own program, we were so happy for her - it makes perfect sense! It is hard to imagine somebody like her not being active in children's lives - families in her program are going to be very lucky to have her!

Ms Krystina was my son's preschool - preK teacher for two years. Hands down the best teacher, care giver and overall person! She was an incredible first teacher for my son (even for us parents). My son was hesitant to start school and Ms Krystina was kind, helpful, encouraging and empowering with the transition into preschool. She created an incredible foundation and a love for learning in my son. I can’t thank her enough for the wonderful memories and lessons learned when my son was in her class. Highly recommend Ms Krystina’s ❤️

I worked with Krystina for four years. She is very passionate about education and dedicated to the children. She has a great sense of humor, and and she is very creative in finding out what each child needs. When I heard she was opening her own program, I thought it was perfect. This allows her to create the developmentally-appropriate curriculum she is passionate about - anyone who has their child(ren) in her care will be very happy!

I taught along side Krystina at the Melrose Early Childhood Center. She was one of the most caring, informative and thoughtful teachers I have ever met. She was very dedicated to her students and had a great rapport with parents. She is a wonderful person.

Rates & Openings

Daycare rates depend on how old your child will be and what your schedule looks like. 5 days / week might get a slight discount, and infant rates are usually more than toddlers’. Finding a spot also depends on age and schedule because each daycare has a limited number of openings for each age range.

Let’s find a really good daycare for you

Get your own recommendations based on your preferences, daily routine, and what matters most to you.

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be - especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text, email, or - we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
