Q&A with Ms. Sabina

Tell us about your experience working with young children?

I have always loved children, babysitting for my nieces and nephews whenever I had the chance. I didn’t know it could be a career for me, as I was working for John Hancock Financial Services, until my sister-in-law introduced me to family child care programs and gave me the information to start my own. This decision was spurred not only by my love for working with kids, but because of my own experience having two young children and knowing how hectic and overwhelming it is to get to work and do the drop offs. I wanted to offer a program that could relieve stress on parents and also be something I love to do. I’m also always trying to further my own education. Currently I am enrolled in Early Childhood Education courses that are enhancing the program already and I have a Child Development Associate Degree.

What are the key areas of focus at your daycare?

Every single day I am trying to give the children the basic foundations of life. Number one for me is good manners! From there we move to every academic piece that they must learn, like the alphabet, days of the week, to reading and writing on their own. We use phonics to teach reading and children excel at this. My favorite goal for the children is that they learn how to write the letters of their first name by the time they leave my program. Every day is new with the children, I love working with them precisely because they are so creative and full of ideas. I can lay out some supplies on a table and they turn it into a project I couldn’t even foresee. I’ve found that they already have all of the wisdom and knowledge within them, all I do is give them some guidance and they create beautiful things! I also have a full staff at all times in the program. Safety, health, learning, and fun are incredibly important to me with the children. I bring a level of love, attention, and care that every child deserves.

Can you tell us a bit about your home environment?

In my program, we have a long hallway upon first entering that has cubbies for all of the children’s belongings. Once in the home, we have our play area, shelves for all types of blocks, from alphabet blocks to different sizes of blocks, plus we have a community playhouse and hospital sets, with little people, cars, and trains. The playroom is filled with a variety of toys, plus different areas for different activities, such as dress up, reading, and manipulative activities. We also have age-specific toys, like walkers for babies. In the kitchen area we have a nice six seater table for the kids, where we do writing activities and meals. We also have different sizes of water tables for different seasons. I’m lucky to have a huge backyard where we bring our water tables, play with balls and balance tools, do chalk writing, and draw on easels. There’s a little patio kid-sized chairs and umbrellas that the kids enjoy when they’re not playing in the sprinkler during the summer!

Here’s the inside scoop from other parents that have worked with Ms. Sabina.

Sabina has a heart of GOLD. She took care of my baby from 6m to 2.9 yrs old. My daughter was always so excited to go to ‘Bina’s house’ and it was a struggle getting her to leave. My daughter will be 4yrs old in February and to this day she makes me call so she can talk to ‘Bina’, even when she is sick, she has to update ‘Bina’ on what’s going on. Sabina opens up her heart, home and family to the children in her care and fosters the fundamentals of learning through play, music, etc. She teaches the children how to be gentle and caring with each other. Her work ethic and professionalism are every parent’s dream come true. I was able to leave my baby in her care and knew that she was in GREAT HANDS!

Sabina is an amazing child care provider! My Daughter looks forward to go to day care every morning! She has learned so much since she been attending - my child comes home speaking about what great day she’s had. Sabina keeps me updated with as the day goes which is great! I would recommend Sabina to anyone!

Miss Sabina is an awesome lady who has been caring for my son since February! My son has learned so much for the 11 months that he's been going to her day care. Sabina does a lot of different activities with the kids. I am happy that I found Sabina during my search when I was choosing child care for my son.

Sabina has been caring for our daughter since she was five months old. She is very caring provider. The daycare environment is very well organized, clean and is safe. My husband and I were very happy we found her and we are happy our daughter is happy and safe while we are at work.

Our son has been with Sabina since he was 11 weeks old & we love her! Great communication, clearly loves our babe and extremely professional. We feel so comfortable leaving him there & know he loves her too!! Highly recommend.

Rates & Openings

Daycare rates depend on how old your child will be and what your schedule looks like. 5 days / week might get a slight discount, and infant rates are usually more than toddlers’. Finding a spot also depends on age and schedule because each daycare has a limited number of openings for each age range.

Let’s find a really good daycare for you

Get your own recommendations based on your preferences, daily routine, and what matters most to you.

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be - especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text, email, or - we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
