We opened our doors in June of 1996, so I’ve been licensed and up and running for 24 years now! I earned a Child Development Associate (CDA) and also an Early Childhood Education Associate’s degree. I am a part of a provider’s food program, where we follow USDA guidelines and are subject to 3-4 unannounced monitoring visits per year. I’m also an Early Head Start provider, from whom I’m also subject to two unannounced monthly visits to ensure I am teaching the kids what they recommend. Additionally, I’m a member of the National Association of Education of Young Children (NAEYC). So how did I get here? It began in high school, when I participated in a program teaching early childhood education. Even before then, as a little girl I’d always be playing teacher, taking the lead in taking care of the children that were around when we had company over. I decided to start my own program when I had children, because daycare was so expensive and working with children was something I loved to do and wanted to invest time into. I had experience, education (studying Early Childhood Education during undergraduate studies), a passion, and felt motivated by the ability to help my own children and the larger community of parents and kids. I love everything about kids, how can you not?! I love helping them build confidence in themselves and making learning fun. I take a lot of pride in building caring relationships with both the children and their caregivers. I value healthy communication and I strive to listen and not always offer advice! I am friendly, approachable, and have a deep knowledge and passion for the kids. I look at every child that walks into the door and see them as my own. I treat each child like I’d want my own to be treated. I want every parent to drop their child off and feel comfortable that their child is safe and well cared for. I put a lot of passion into what I do, and after over two decades of experience, I am proud of the program that I’ve built and the care I give to the children.

I love kids, and I’ve always wanted to open a daycare. I have two kids who are older, and now I’m raising my granddaughter. Some of my passions include cooking and gardening, and I love seeing those activities through her eyes. She has learned a lot about taking care of plants and little details like cleaning up from watching me and helping me, and that feels so rewarding. I want to offer that same excitement and care to other kids as well. I speak English and Spanish and some Italian. In addition to sharing my passions with the children, I will share those languages with them as well.

I was born and raised in Haverhill, MA and have had my family childcare program out of my home there since 1998. I have many qualifications and have been involved with family child care since the late 1980s, when I took a child study course in high school. In this course, we assisted preschool and kindergarten teachers and I fell in love with working with children. After high school, I pursued and earned an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been a licensed family child care provider through EEC for 21 years. I am certified in first aid and CPR, I have my Child Development Associate (CDA), am an Early HeadStart Educator, a Safe Sleep Ambassador, and a member of the National Child Care Association (NCCA). I have two children of my own, who are now 26 and 28, and have two grandchildren who are four months and seven years old. I enjoy working with children to foster their growth and development. I love how curious, innocent, and willing to learn the children are. I am excited to be partnered with NeighborSchools to spread the word about my program.

I have always known I was meant to work with children. Growing up, I loved going to work with my mom, who was a teacher, and I volunteered with children as often as I could. Since graduating college I have worked in different preschools and daycares, all while setting goals to start my own child care program. I am thrilled to implement all that I have learned into my own program. When children are in my home, I treat them as if they are mine. I nurture and care for them, and celebrate every achievement, however big or small.

I come from a big family and have always loved being around the little ones! I have three precious kiddos of my own and couldn't think of a better way to put my love of caring for children to good use. I'm so happy to welcome the families in my neighborhood to my home. I have 13 years of experience taking care of young children. I’m a Mom and I’ve worked in my home-based daycare. For me, one of the best parts of working with children is watching them learn and grow. I feel so fortunate to experience that every day and to share my skills and experience with families through my home-based child care program, where I focus on giving children personalized attention. I aim to create an environment that is comfortable and friendly for the children I care about so much. So many parts of this job are fun, but I especially love to watch them express themselves. I can't imagine spending my days any other way. I’m also proud to do this important work. That’s especially true when I think about all the children and families I've impacted over the years.

Every child has their own story to tell. Every child comes with their own interests and needs. My youngest sister was born with Down syndrome. Yes, this means she faced challenges, but she also has so much to offer. When I was a teenager, I would go with her to preschool whenever I had a chance. It was then that I first fell in love with caring for others. Working with a small group of kids means each one has the chance to be seen and heard. Giving a child that specialized attention is one of the greatest, most rewarding things a person can do. Being a small part of their lives at this very important stage is so exciting. You can see their potential, and you can watch them grow!

Children are full of possibilities. You never know which kid is going to go on to become a famous musician or a painter, a brilliant scientist, or a loving caregiver to someone else. Every child has their own journey, and it’s such a privilege to be a part of it. Before starting my own daycare program, I was a bus monitor, ensuring the safety of children ages 3-5. Even though the children spent a small amount of time on the bus, their unique personalities really came through and stuck with me. Because the children were such a joy to be around, I eventually became a bus driver so that I could continue this work and see them grow as they got older. You could say I’ve always been passionate about helping kids get to where they need to go.

The best part about working with young children is getting to know them! Even at this early stage in their development, they come in with a sense of who they are, what they might be interested in, and what challenges they might face, too. After becoming a mom 22 years ago (and having 4 kids!) I realized how truly unique the process of raising each child can be, even if they come from the same family! I love every part of it. It’s an exciting opportunity to honestly assess each person’s needs and find them the best learning approach possible. Treating the kids as individuals is really important, because it means they’re getting the attention and specially-tailored education they deserve.

FAQs

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be - especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text or email - we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
