Dependable Kid CareHaverhill, MA
My name is Tasha Raye Ryan and I have been a Massachusetts Licensed Family Childcare Provider since December of 1990. I offer integrated childcare in my home, a “home away from home” atmosphere, in Haverhill, MA for children age newborn – 16 years; over 28 years experience in caring for both typical children and children with varying needs. I am certified in CPR, First Aid, and MACC (Medication Administration in Child Care), I am a CNA and a CHHA, with experience and special training in various learning, developmental, social-emotional, and medical needs (including, but not limited to, Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Asperger Syndrome, Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, PTSD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety/ Depression, Epilepsy, Juvenile Diabetes, CHARGE Syndrome, Hearing and Visual disabilities, Asthma, and a number of severe allergies including food, medication, latex and environmental). I am a wife to Jim ~ a proud mother of three grown children, Ashleigh, Justin, and Joshua ~ and a doting grandmother to three amazing little ones, Mark, Stella, and Jackson. I began my journey in early childhood as a Nanny. After the birth of my daughter, the family I was caring for agreed to bring their son to my home and my business grew from there. Based in Methuen at that time Dependable Kid Care saw many children pass through our doors, most of whom I am still in contact with today. After the birth of my first son, Dependable Kid Care moved to our current location in 1994 and has been proudly serving families from Haverhill and the Merrimack Valley ever since. I have been very fortunate to have been able to stay home with my children and grandchildren. I have also been blessed to have had a hand in helping to raise hundreds of other people’s children over 28 years. Open and honest communication and trust are undoubtedly two of the most important factors in childcare. I want you and your child to feel comfortable in my home and I want you to know that when you go to work that your most precious gift is in capable and loving hands!!! I take a “Learn Through Play” approach to early education and childcare and offers “Hands on Learning”. In my integrated environment I encourage communication and problem solving, the development of social and emotional skills, healthy self-esteem, and creativity. I consistently promote being a responsible member of a “group” and a “good friend” to all, no child is too young to learn these principles and values, and encouraging this from a young age helps prepare your child for the future. I am involved in my community and I am affiliated with a number of local charitable organizations, such as, Ozzie’s Kids and Liam Nation. Personally and through Dependable Kid Care, I participate in a number of local charitable events. I also organized and hosted a large fundraiser in 2014 for one of my daycare families “Tricia’s Pink Ribbon Fund” where we raised over $6500 that went directly to the family. I am very passionate about helping others and paying it forward and always try to encourage others to do the same.

There are so many stories from over the years. One that comes to mind and inspires me every day involves these two adorable sisters who joined the daycare where I was working about five years ago. They came from a foster home, the oldest was 6 and the youngest was 4, they spoke very little English. The youngest clung to me right away, always wanting to be held and seeking my love and attention. However the older immediately started to lash out and cause trouble. She would scream at nap time, tell me she was going to hurt me, and was mean to the other children as well. Every child is different, and with her I realized that the more I ignored that negative behavior, the more she learned to show me how good she could behave. It took time, but within several months she was telling me she loved me and hugging me. She was happy to see me and would share stories with me at nap time. Reflecting on the difference I made in this one child’s life made me realize that I could do this for so many others. I want to create a safe, loving, and healthy environment for all kinds of children. I hoping I help them as much as they help me!! Since these early experiences, I have worked with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers for over a decade with an emphasis on finding activities that engage a group of children and, simultaneously, create opportunities for me to pull aside each child and work with them 1:1 at some point during the day. Most recently I have worked as a licensed assistant in a Family Child Care program. Building on my experience and years of working with mixed age-ranges, I am beyond thrilled to be running my very own program. Personally, I am a mother of two great kids, ages 5 and 13. Exercise and nutrition are very important to our family, and healthy meals are a core component of my program.

The NeighborSchools Difference

Unlike Care.com, Yelp, or SitterCity, here at NeighborSchools we only partner with Licensed Home Daycare & Preschool Providers. These high-quality small-scale programs allow for better ratios, meaning more individualized attention for your little one. In Massachusetts, all Providers are licensed by the Dept. of Early Education & Care (EEC).

In order to receive and maintain a license from the EEC, Providers must:
  • Complete training in Safe Sleep, Childhood Nutrition, Medication Administration, and Transportation Safety
  • Undergo a rigorous home environment inspection & unannounced monitoring visits from EEC Licensors throughout the year
  • Maintain current Pediatric CPR & First Aid certificates
  • Complete a 3-part background record check, including fingerprints
  • Complete 10+ hours of professional development training annually

Many parents don‘t realize that Licensed Home Daycare & Preschool is regulated just like center-based child care. The biggest difference is that with Home Daycare your child is in the care of one experienced Provider who is wholly devoted to the children in their program. Children get the individualized attention and continuity of care they need to thrive; you get a more affordable child care option conveniently located right in your neighborhood.
