Ms. Teresa

Play-Based Learning

This all started when I had a baby, and now my son is about to turn 39. When I had my first son, I was home taking care of him, and slowly I started taking care of other people’s children, too. I thought kids needed more of a relaxed environment where they could have a bad day and stay in their pajamas if they needed to. I thought I would work in this role as long as my kids were growing up, but now it’s the grandchildren who are coming through. I love giving all the kids in my program the freedom to be themselves, and I love that freedom for myself, too. Some kids call me Ms. Teri, and others call me Gram Gram. I really love working with infants and toddlers. They’re a lot of fun to be around; they learn so rapidly. It gives me a completely different perspective to look at the world through their eyes.

Ms. Elizeth

Play-Based Learning

I started working with children in a home child care program in 2007, and I have been working as a teacher in various daycare programs ever since. I love to work with kids, and it has always been my dream to open my own program. I have so much experience to share with children. It’s so exciting that now I do it in a program that I design and direct. Working with children is incredibly rewarding for me because every child is different. When they’re little, I love to watch them start talking and walking. When they’re a little older, I love to teach them and see their progress as they learn shapes and numbers. I have helped so many children work through their individual challenges and achieve personal gains. I love to see them happy when they’re learning.

Ms. Jessica

Great Outdoor Space

Young children soak up so much knowledge every day! This stage of childhood is one of such incredible growth and being part of that is so special and rewarding. I started working with children as an assistant and it became clear to me very quickly that I wanted to dig deeper - I felt called to guide children in a more meaningful way. This is what led me to open my own home daycare! My favorite time of day is circle time, where we gather and share with each other. It amazes me every single day to see how much they have taken in and learned, and it’s so special to watch them share their accomplishments with our little community.

Ms. Kelsey

Small Class Sizes

Children are just so fun to work with! It’s incredibly rewarding to watch them grow and come into their own personalities. When he was younger, my nephew had a hard time expressing himself and sharing his feelings. We are quite close and spent a lot of time one-on-one working on processing emotions and advocating for oneself. It feels wonderful knowing you’ve helped someone learn these important skills. I’ve always had a passion for working with children. Since I was young, I was the go-to babysitter for families in my neighborhood. For years, I nannied for a big family, and it was a privilege to be around them as they grew up. Kids are so social, and something really remarkable happens when you get a good group of them together in a supportive learning environment. Obviously, I hope to be a source of comfort and guidance for them, but they can also learn so much from one another! Watching them foster friendships and learn to work together is honestly inspiring.

Let’s find a really good daycare for you

Get your own recommendations based on your preferences, daily routine, and what matters most to you.

Your family is unique to you, but some of your questions might not be. 😉 Here’s what most parents want to know when starting out.

What is NeighborSchools?

Hey there, nice to meet you 👋 We’re a new-ish startup that helps new-ish parents find daycare.

We know how hard finding good child care can be - especially for first-time parents. But really good care is what gives you the peace of mind to go back to work and feel confident that your child is getting the stimulation, socialization, and support they need to learn and grow.

So we created NeighborSchools to make this piece of parenthood a whole lot easier. We say “easier” because, let’s be honest, it’s still a big thing to figure out, but working together we can help you find some good options, understand the whole process, and choose a program you’ll feel really good about.

Most first-time parents don’t know exactly what they’re looking for, so we created a simple survey that will ask you questions about your lifestyle, your daily routines, and your preferences for child care. We’ll then share 3 personalized recommendations that we think might be a good fit. We’ll also give you a timeline that maps out when we would suggest you start touring programs, choose a daycare, and pay a deposit to secure a spot. Your timeline is based on when you want to start care - so you set the pace, and you decide when you’ve found the right match.

Nope. Our daycare recommendation service is free for parents. The other half of our business is helping these small-scale daycares with software and services that handle all their administrative tasks, like online contracting, payment processing, and licensing requirements. Before NeighborSchools, services like these were only designed for large corporate child care centers, and part of our mission is to level the playing field for small, independent child care programs. That’s why we picked the name NeighborSchools - we’re all about making child care more personal, more human, and more equitable for the incredible individuals who do this work and care for our children.

Generally, if you’re here, you’re ready. The survey lets us give you 3 recommendations to consider, but it’ll also help you better understand what factors to consider, and what questions to be asking right now. It’s simple things like where you live, your child’s date of birth, when you want to start care, and if you have any preferences around program philosophy or language of instruction. If you’re planning 6+ months ahead, it’s a great way to get started, and if you’re hoping to start daycare in the next 2-4 months, it’s definitely time to get started. Click here to start the survey.

Each program has a limited number of spots for each age range, so we need to know your schedule and child’s age before we can share availability. The survey covers these basics, as well as factors like drop-off and pick-up times to make sure that recommended programs fit your daily routine. Once we know your child’s age and schedule we can share rates and costs as well.

More questions? Text, email, or - we’re here to help.

We’re online Monday - Friday from 8am to 6pm Eastern.
