Halloween is the perfect time to promote your home daycare because new business will quite literally be knocking on your door. With increased foot traffic and happy trick-or-treaters out and about, Halloween presents a unique and wonderful opportunity to introduce yourself and your program to the families in your neighborhood.

Here’s what you’ll need to do to make the most out of this frightfully fantastic marketing opportunity:

Get the news out

  • Start getting the news out about your Open House. Post a short message on surrounding neighborhood Facebook Pages and use your own social media channels to invite friends and families to stop by.

  • Create your very own promotional flyer using our handy little template that you can print and leave at the library, nearby grocery stores, and other great spots around the neighborhood!

Set up a table

  • On Halloween, set up a fun and festive table on your front stairs to draw people to your Open House. Invite families into your home for some sweet treats like apple cider, donuts, and raisins so you can show them your space and tell them a little bit more about you and your program.

  • To encourage even more families to visit, get in the Halloween spirit with some spooky decorations. Make sure your NeighborSchools yard sign is visible to families as they trick or treat, too!

Give out goody bags

  • Once you’ve had the opportunity to meet some parents and their children, make sure they do not leave empty handed! Using orange and black ribbon, attach a quick note using our helpful template to a sandwich bag filled with candy or little toys like spider/skull rings, pencils, and Halloween bouncy balls. These goody bags are a win-win because kids will love their treats and parents will have all the information they need to get in touch with you to enroll in your daycare (or tell their friends about you)!

  • If an Open House feels like a bit too much to tackle, goody bags are still a great way to spread the word about your program and ensure families have a ghoulishly good time.

About NeighborSchools

At NeighborSchools, we make it easier to launch and run a home daycare, with support every step of the way.

Because we know that child care matters—for parents, kids, and communities. But all too often, this essential work is underpaid and underappreciated. Caregivers like you deserve better.

Opening a home daycare means being your own boss, earning a good salary, and having the freedom to care for your kids or grandkids, too. Our team is dedicated to your success: We help you get licensed, find families, meet other providers, and connect with curriculum experts.

Together, we’re leading a movement to make child care work better, for everybody.
